Yes, I'm me oriented today... but that doesn't mean that I don't care that it's World AIDS Day.. *realized how cold that sounded after I woke up a little more*
I've only met one person with full blown AIDS.. and I felt so bad for her. Was when I was working for a private ambulance service a few years ago, her family had put her in a nursing home where they had an entire unit dedicated to AIDS patients... and she was beating herself up emotionally nearly the entire ride. All I could do was give her comforting words and wipe away her tears.. when she'd ask 'What did I do to myself?' I'd simply start in with the Sorsha-isms. I eventually got her to smile, and even a small chuckle...
I'm sure she passed away a few years ago, she was in the latter stages when I met her.. but if I brightened her day that one day.. and I hope I did...it would have made my goofy-ness all worthwhile.
I've also got a few friends with HIV... so there ya go.. there's where my candles are lit.
