Happy Birthday, FIC!

For my Friend/Ficcer In Crime:

1 Kakashi/Sasuke header image that can also be used as a banner.

Lots and lots of love. ♥ ♥ ♥

Not Yet Blinded.

Sasuke watches Kakashi-sensei a lot. He doesn't do it in the same way that Sakura does, with a mix of fond irritation and awe, or the way that Naruto does, with impatient anticipation. He's not Sakura. He doesn't care if their teacher is a little (three hours) late and it doesn't matter to him that Kakashi's the famous Copy Ninja. He's not Naruto either (never will be) and he doesn't think that waiting for Kakashi to do something 'cool' is a rewarding pasttime.

He doesn't think that waiting for Kakashi at all is worth it.

He'd rather watch. Watch, listen and learn. Kakashi looks lazy. He moves like he can't be bothered to straighten up, in a slouch that's so habitual that one almost expects his spine to dislocate with a crack whenever he does stand up properly (right before a battle). Sasuke's pretty sure that Kakashi is lazy. He always uses the least amount of chakra needed, putting in as little effort as he can get away with.

It makes Kakashi efficient. Sasuke can appreciate that.

He can also appreciate the way that Kakashi's hands look in the cut-out gloves (fingers long and slender, scarred at the tips) and the way that the man performs the seals (motions so fast that Sasuke can't always follow them, not until Kakashi slows down to make sure Sasuke can copy him and Sasuke's pride is the only thing that prevents him from asking Kakashi to repeat it time and time again just so that he can watch the other's hands). He can appreciate the way that Kakashi smiles (efficient again), just a crinkling of the one, visible eye, such a small gesture that changes his entire expression.

He can appreciate a lot of things about Kakashi, but he tries to focus on his hatred for his brother instead, and the revenge he must get for his murdered family. He bleeds his eyes to Sharingan red, learns Kakashi's juutsus faster, more eagerly, and appreciates the power that the other has. Because that's what he needs to defeat Itachi. He can appreciate that safely.

He's not yet so blinded by hatred that he can't appreciate everything else, but one day, he will be.

~Fin.~
