The tattoo as a form of punishment actually really interests me as well, even though I still prefer the scar theory. But I've never seen the tattoo-marring theory in an actual fic, only in that post that [livejournal.com profile] cairnsy made. Which is too bad because it could be really effective if done properly.

Same for the blood-magic scars! Ryuuji does the dice thing to those hooded freaks that were kidnapping Shizuka and throughout the manga/anime, we see him managing jumps and daring car tricks that make it clear he's got a good sense of balance and is physically fit and doesn't mind taking chances. And with how hidden parts of his personality are, I just think that it makes so much sense for him to wear hidden weapons than have bodyguards. Though it could be the blood magic scars and weapons both! Double protection. Double-reasoning. Nobody ever said that figuring Ryuuji out was easy.

Home-schooling ftw? He's a genius kid anyway, normal school would bore the hell out of him.

...You know, the sexual abuse combined with the forced tattoo would make a hell of a disturbing story. With his father being attracted to him, making him get the tattoo to be less attractive, still finding him attractive anyway ... And then the blood magic. Afterwards, maybe, Ryuuji casts something on himself to make sure his father never wants him like that again. If he can. If he wouldn't just see it as another way in which his father needs him/he can please his father.

And yes, my fics often have Ryuuji being manipulative, but that's canon :P Same with him using his sexuality, since he loves having chicks attracted to him and knows he's pretty and has no problem using it. I've never actually had him whore for drugs, though, but he can/does use drugs within sex when I'm writing him. Or has sex when he's drugged up, just because his life sucked so fucking much on so many levels that it must've scarred him on more than just a physical level. And I can see him liking drugs that'll let him just sort of disfocus and remember he's pretty and clever but not remember the price he paid (in blood and love and the latter hurt more) to get where he is.
