I think it stemmed from translation issues. The footnote mentioned that the author wanted it translated as Light, so they changed from "Raito" to "Light" about 1/3 or so into the manga.

Of course not O:) I was merely referring to the general prevalence of death by heart attack or some creative suicide on Raito's part. Although, I suppose death by ingestion would be very creative...
