Gah, that really puts me on edge. It sucks that kind of attitude prevails. At my university in engineering we've got lots of scholarships for women (I've seen at least 10) interested in a carrier as a positive incentive to get more to join, yet our classes are still filled with guys.

Glad you got out of there. That filling the gap bullshit, a teacher is supposed to be a positive role model, on the side of education, not against it.
