Important Life Lesson!

Do not clean pierced ears with mint dental floss.

I realize that might sound obvious to some of you, but if you're a college student who recently got her ears pierced, thinks one of them is too swollen to use cotton swabs on and really wants to make sure it's clean, you might have the brainwave of using dental floss to try to clean behind the earring.

Take it from me, it's a bad idea. Your ear won't drop off, but it will sting like crazy. Though maybe cotton thread would work if you soak it in disinfectant first.

Aren't you glad I'm here to find out stuff the hard way so that you won't have to?

*hugs* I feel bad for you :), but yeah, I'll note it for if I ever get my ears re-pierced. Not sure what to do when it swells up, might be worth getting that checked out.

Y'know... I think I may have done something similar before... I don't recall what I used, but I know I've used something that I thought would work... but didn't...

One suggestion is to soak the swab in whatever they gave you and then hold it against your ear - press it enough so that it actually gets between the earring and your ear...

And if the infection continues, call the person who did it for you. Make sure that you're not alergic to the earring -- like I was to nickel...

*snuggles* Now, I hope your ear is doing better and that you're getting sleep ♥

Oh my poor darling! Kudos for the very innovative idea though...disinfected cotton thread probably would have been fine.

Hope the ear unswells soon!
