Stuff for Mamono (posted to keep her out of my dreams *sticks tongue out playfully*)
Hey You!!!
"Hey You!!!" Jou took one look behind him, then paled at the sight of the angry girl brandishing a spatula. "Crap." He muttered under his breath, then grabbed Yugi's hand. "C'mon!" Breaking into a sprint, he ran around a corner, crashed into Kaiba then ducked behind a potted plant, practically dragging Yugi along with him.
Scowling, Kaiba stalked over to them once he recovered from the force of the impact. "What was that for mutt?" He sneered down at the crouching boy who made frantic shushing sounds. "Don't you even apologize anymore when you run into people?"
"Kaiba, pipe down!" Jou hissed in an exasperated, furtive manner. "Are you trying to get me killed?"
"The idea does have a certain merit to it, yes." Kaiba smirked down at them disdainfully, mouth a thin line.
Bland Perfection.
In gym class, they're learning to dance. Or rather, most of the class are trying not to step on each other's feet. Kaiba and Anzu already know how to dance. They stand off to the side - not awkwardly, but on Kaiba's part with a certain impatience and on Anzu's part, a little discomfort at the silence which surrounds them. Though most of the class is laughing and cursing, every friendly overture she has made to Kaiba was rejected, causing her to be silent.
Surprisingly, it's Kaiba who breaks the silence with a mocking laugh at the expense of (who else?) Jou, who managed to steer his partner into the wall and is being soundly berated for it. If Yugi was there, he'd calm the girl, but since he's at home with the flu, Jou is left to deal with it on his own. Which he doesn't do well. Surprise, surprise. In Jou'd defense, Anzu speaks up, secretly glad of the chance to say something at last, "He's not that bad actually, he managed the basic steps after all."
"And he managed to steer his partner into a completely stationary wall." Kaiba sneers back.
Anzu's cheeks flush as she retorts, "Nobody is perfect at anything the first time around."
Flames.
Jou likes fire. It crackles like it's talking to him, it reminds him of the Flame Swordsman. It blazes up and down like his temper, and it's got a playful streak to it. He likes the different colors in it, how although most people just think of it as red and orange, it's got the true-blue loyalty lurking at its heart. Not that he'd ever thought about fire in such depth though, it was merely an observation he had made while at Duellist Kingdom - thinking of his sightless sister, he had paid extra attention to everything so that he could describe it to her. Even something as simple as the fire in his room.
Marik loves fire. It's hot and hungry, viciously devouring everything that it comes across. Mortals may try to tame it within their hearts, use it to light their way, but it can never be fully controlled. Fire, to Marik, is wildfire. All fire is wildfire, spreading to consume the world in a blaze of light and glory which hides the death that fire carries in its heart.
Otogi hates fire. Can you blame him? His father did burn to death in front of his eyes after all. Nevermind that his father and him never exactly got on well. The point still remains that when Otogi sees fire, he remembers the horrible stench of burning flesh and watches once more as a grease-painted clown face blackens and crisps while scarlet flames writhe over it.
Mokuba's never really thought about fire. There's so much else to think about. Like Seto and school and Seto and Duel Monsters and Seto and his friends and Seto - if he thought about fire at all, he'd probably think about it in terms of the fiery challenge that he perceives Seto to be. There's so much to do with fire that should fit Seto, after all. The burning determination to be the best at Duel Monsters. The fire that Seto shows when duelling. The passionate hatred Seto reserves for anyone who threatens Mokuba. The blaze of glory that surrounds the CEO of Kaiba Corp.
Nevertheless, Kaiba fears fire - he thinks it could thaw him out.
Perfect Couple.
In gym class, they're learning to dance. The teachers pair them up according to their levels of skill. Yugi is at home with the flu. Anzu and Kaiba end up partners. It's completely random, of course, but after class, the girls chatter and giggle to each other as they chance. Anzu hears snatches of phrases like "Oh, you two looked so cute together!" or more daringly, "The two of you would make a great couple!"
Nobody tells Anzu that she looked good with Kaiba.
She decides that they're all blind.
