Patriot icons, anyway?

Want an icon like the above? Comment with a link to a photo of you (unless I know what you look like already) or with a doll of you, and what flag you want. I know that many of you guys are multiracial, so you get to choose which origin you want to flaunt.

I can't do multiple flags in one icon, sorry. ♥

So, as most of you know, I was born in LA, travelled around the world until I was four, spent a year in Australia, then lived in Austria until I was eighteen, at which point I moved to America for college.

And yet, my patriot pride icon is a Sri Lankan one, even though I'm only Sri Lankan genetically and fly down there twice a year at the most. I'm not a good Sri Lankan girl -- I don't have long hair, have no plans on getting married, am not Buddhist, wear inappropriate clothing, have no interest in tele-dramas and think the civil war is stupid. I think Sri Lanka has too many mosquitoes and I hate the way guys stare at me when I'm there. The crime rate is appalling and the Sri Lankan tendency to create traffic jams out of nothing more than a cart and a bullock is insane.

None of that really matters, though, because when it comes down to it, Sri Lanka is a tiny little island shaped like a teardrop, and it's where I come from. That's why my icon doesn't say 'American Pride'; there are already enough Americans around to be proud of their homeland. I think it's time someone took a turn at being proud of being Sri Lankan.

And hey, at least we never invaded Iraq.

My last name is teh long, wtf-this-doesn't-even-look-how-you-say-it last name (aka., aaah~~!!-why-the-hell-is-there-a-z-there-?), so I suppose Poland wins. It's the first thing people see on my paperwork, anyway. And I speak a tiny bit of Polish (though I can't spell it to save my life). xD

I tried to find pics where my hair was down or visible. I love pictures of me, but I never realised that I hardly got my hair into the fun. That's so horrible, right? I love my hair. It needs to speak up some more.

And if you're bored, you can always make me an Irish icon, too, even if I only know two words of Irish and a whole lot of nothing about Ireland.

The question I thought you were going to answer under the cut is: how come your pride is so much less specific than the others? The Welsh icon doesn't have "European pride", and I would have thought that you of all people would be reluctant to be lumped together with Russians, Kazakhs, Japanese and a couple of billion other people with whom you have relatively little in common.

I might even say that's the kind of thing an American would do. :)
