aclu: American Civil Liberties Union. After taking a course called Freedom of Speech & History of Dissent during my first year of college, I ended up really appreciating everything that the ACLU does to protect free speech, even in cases where I found myself thinking that a little restriction on what people could say wouldn’t be all that bad.

angst: I have an IMEEM playlist titled ‘Angst Fest’. Things that ache but good are awesome in a really painful way. This drabble about Rachel of Animorphs is probably the best example of the sort of pain that I cannot help but love.

anime: So cliché but hey, it’s true. Ergo Proxy, Utena and Yuugiou are all animes that I heart.

anti-bush: Bush sucks. The other day, someone asked me why and I gave them 8 different reasons before realizing that I was ranting and cutting myself off.

asexuality: I’m not the only asexual out there! I doubt straight people put ‘heterosexuality’ in their interest, though.

assassin of logic: Die, points, die! Who needs logic to win an argument?

astral plane: My very first website ever was called the Astral Plane. The tag line was “Existence is optional. Imagination isn’t.”

being wired in: I need my Internet fix, dude. If I could walk around with the Net in my head, I’d take that option.

biology: Bodies are weird. Animals are weird. Humans are weird. I like knowing how things work.

biro tattoos: Stolen shamelessly from Savior. Though being the more careful one these days, I tend to go for skin markers instead since those are safer/less toxic.

books: I need my book fix too. Internet and books are my two great addictions.

bookstores: I love bookstores. There’s something so calming about them. I can wander in them for hours.

boston: Great city. Fantastic city. Absolutely heart it there and heart having visitors there.

carmine: A shade of red. I love color names, especially weird ones.

changeshipping: Malik/Ryuuji. They’re really broken together in a gorgeously destructive way. All Fall Down is probably the best changeshipping fic I ever wrote.

chaos: Numa’s nickname. Numa being one of my closest RL friends, so of course I’m interested in her!

clashshipping: Yami no Malik/Yami no Yuugi. Because when people want to kill each other, you can write really fucked up stories about their interaction.

comedy: Angst and darkness are all very well but everyone likes to laugh. “The giggle has been natural since history began” to quote a song I liked as a kid.

comic books: …I’m a geek. Shut up.

comics: This includes webcomics! Questionable Content is weirdly awesome, Sinfest is something I hate to miss, DM of the Rings makes everyone that I know happy, Elf Only Inn is giggle-worthy for anyone that’s into RPing, Ctrl+Alt+Dlt is PURE LOVE and I deeply mourn the deaths of Pantheon and Ghastly.

cornflower blue: My favourite color in the whole world and the color of my text on MSN.

corpsy-corpsy: Again stolen shamelessly from Savior! I never did actually get that drawing that he diagrammed as ‘corpsy-corpsy’, though.

dc: Comic book producing company. They own Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Catwoman, Lady Shiva, Talia and other such chars.

dice: I’m wearing red dice earrings that I bought with Neko in Boston and a red dice bracelet that Numa gave me. Dice are AWESOME.

dice brats: A nickname Seto gave Ryuuji in ygo_rpg.

discworld: Pratchett is awesome but the world he created is even more awesome. Awesome enough that my livejournal name derives from there.

disney songs: Say what you like about Disney but their songs are ridiculously catchy. Especially the ones from Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pocahontas, Mulan and Hercules.

drama: In the sense of liking dramatic stories, not the theatre. Do people label their fics as ‘drama’ any longer? I don’t think so, which is too bad. I want to know if a story has lots of emotional turmoil, damnit!

emerald green: HP fandom way overuses that, but let’s face it, real emeralds are a lovely bright green.

enabling: Please. You all know that “talk me out of it” translates to “convince me to do it so that I can point the blame at you but still do what I want”. I wouldn’t be a good friend if I didn’t enable!

escapism: The world sucks. Books and fanfiction suck me away from reality. Like a boom tube. Whooosh.

fandom: Fandom is crazy. How can you not watch it with amusement?

fanfics: WHOOSH!

fanfiction: WHOOOOOOOOSH!

fangirls: Some day, scientists will study them and find that they have a third lobe dedicated solely to fandom trivia.

fate luck and chaos: Eternal Three, babycakes. And don’t you ever forget it.

feeling my bones: The sucky thing about gaining weight is no longer being able to prod your ribs. But I like my collarbone and ankles and elbows and wrists and knees and jaw and eye sockets – it’s really, really cool to know that underneath your skin and softness, there’s something hard and unyielding. A solid center, if you will.

feminism: Women are the equal of men. We need to be treated like we are; we need to have the same rights as men. I will never stop fighting for that.

femslash: Girls fuck rock too.

fiction: Fiction pwns reality any day.

forest green: Forest green is darker than emerald green, but also richer. It’s a lovely color.

gay marriage: I’m personally unlikely to marry, I think, but I’m wholly in favour of other people having the right to marry, regardless of gender. Why the hate, people?

gay rights: Why shouldn’t they have the same rights as everyone else? They’re just people.

genetics: Nobody really knows what’s wrong with my sister. Unless it can be proven that it’s not genetic and I’m not a carrier, I’m never having kids.

global citizenship: I am a child of all the world. I have no home except my own heart.

good omens: I buy copies of it whenever I see it on sale anywhere, and then send them off to people to convert them to Good Omens worship. So far, it’s working.

gravitation: The first ever shounen-ai anime I watched. Ryuichi and Taki are still my favourite chars from it, though I remember being highly annoyed when it turned out that Taki was a bad guy since it meant that I seemed to instinctively like the baddies even before I knew that was what they’d be.

greek mythology: When I was six, I was addicted to it. I think that my parents monitoring my reading by blocking out Sweet Valley Twins but letting me read Greek mythology was ridiculous – of the two of them, it’s the latter that presented rape, murder, bestiality, necrophilia, incest and homosexuality as matter-of-factly as it did family trees.

green eyes: Sexiest thing ever. EVER. Real green, that is, not pale, washed-out green or yellow-green. Yummy.

gundam wing: I got into the fandom before I’d seen the show. Kathy and I did a lot of marathon attempts to get through the show, finally succeeded and Trowa was still my favourite. Ah, GW. XD

harry potter: I want the seventh book just so that it’ll be over.

hope: No reason to live without it.

human rights: “We be of one blood, ye and I.” The freedom I have, I appreciate. I will use it to fight for those that don’t share my access to clean water, a safe home, a fair trial, healthcare and education.

humor: If you laugh, your mood improves because you get a boost of happy-chemicals in your brain. Ergo, being tickled is good for you! XD

insanity: Insane in the good way! And crazy people are fas-cin-a-ting.

irony: Life loves it, and so do I.

jason todd: OH JAY. Why do you have to hurt me so? Coming back to life only to wind up as a temporary tentacle monster and bataranged to the neck. You’ve got no luck, my darling boy, but I love you anyway.

judd winick: Nobody does snark and banter like he does, and his take on Kyle is fantastic. I gotta say, I love his Jay as well.

left-handed people: Kathy’s a leftie. Left hand = hand sinister. Lex and Ryuuji are lefties as well. Lefties = cool.

luck: I’ve got plenty of luck. It just comes in two flavours.

machiavelli: I wish people would stop throwing his name around if they haven’t read his works.

marine blue: Darkish blue, a little dull, but still pretty.

mastershipping: Seto/Ryuuji or Ryuuji/Seto, take your pick. Two beautiful, fucked-up, self-controlled boys. To quote Ninetails, “Love isn’t, and never was, part of the equation” where those two are concerned.

mineral green: Dark green, rich and warm and glittery-sparkly-bright. Very gorgeous.

mountain climbing: I love mountain climbing. In the gym, I heart climbing up the walls at top speed and out in the open, there is something so fucking FUN about scaling up the side of a cliff and then slowly letting yourself down.

msts: I MSTed a fic once over on the Yahoo Group, Slash Grievances. Got good feedback too. Mostly like reading Slash Muses’s MSTs, though.

my fair lady: I’d like the movie so much better if Eliza didn’t go back to him in the end. But dude, I love the songs. I even played two of them at piano recitals.

original fiction: Original fiction, the good kind, is basically just a book waiting to be published. Escape latch ahoy!

our digital god: Savior and I share him because I stole this interest from Savior as well. It’s a reference to a convo between Yami and Seto at domino_uni.

paradox: If I were more mathematically-minded, I’d probably like Escher as well.

petshop of horrors: Absolutely fantastic manga. One of my favourites for years, especially since it’s so neatly chopped up into little self-contained chapters.

political activism: It’s my world just as much as it is yours. If you believe in something, fight for it. Change for the better only happens when you make it.

politics: I want to know what the elite are doing; I want to know how my world is going to change and what I can do to stop/help it.

pratchett: I know you’re old, but please don’t die. I need to keep reading your novels and once you’re dead, BAM. Production of them will stop.

pretty gore: There’s no such as unpretty gore.

pretty pretty gore: I rest my case.

pro-choice: My body, my rules. Regardless of what choice I’d make, I demand the right to have a choice, not just for me but for women everywhere. I am more than my ovaries.

protest marches: Walk the streets, kick the pavement, yell and chant and be seen. Add your support to the causes you know are right and don’t just talk about them, do something.

prussian blue: Heero’s eyes keep getting described as Prussian blue, which I have to admit, is a very pretty shade of blue, dark but intense.

psychoshipping: Yami no Malik/Yami no Bakura = OTP forever and ever. The only thing better than one hot psycho is two hot psychos – together!

pwning you all: Let’s face it, you know that I can do.

rocky horror: Anything that requires you to dress up and yell out lines at appropriate moments is fun.

roleplaying: Roleplaying is co-escapism. It takes two or more people away from reality instead of just one.

rp: RP is the slang way of saying roleplaying. It’s more often used for online stuff, I think. I have a badge saying “RP OR DIE” that I got at Anime Boston and that a guy used as a talking point when he tried to pick me up in Boston.

rping: RP is a verb, technically. RPG is a game, since that’s Role Playing Game. RP is Role Play. So while you can say that you joined a role play, it makes more sense to say you joined an RPG. It’s just that even I don’t bother with those distinctions.

ryuuji otogi: Yami no Malik is actually my favourite YGO char. Ryuuji just happens to have more complexity to him.

saki: Awesome author. Gift for irony, satire and like Wilde without the descriptions. I sent Matt a compilation of all of Saki’s works – I highly rec him to anyone on my flist who thinks they’re intelligent enough to appreciate his type of dry humor.

sarcasm: It’s better when you don’t mean it.

satire: Society was meant to be mocked.

savior: He rezzes himself in three days but is very indignant about the idea of saving people. Catchphrase: See if I liberate YOU!

scarlet: A bright, vivid red. Defiant and fucking awesome.

self-surgery: Blame domino_uni for that. But I have to admit, stitching myself up is kind of fascinating.

seto kaiba: My first ever ship in YGO was Yami no Malik/Seto Kaiba. I even got a Yuletide story written for that pairing which I still love.

shades of grey: Shades of any color interest me, really. I think grey is just the catchphrase.

shounen-ai: Boys love too?

skin markers: There we go! Much healthier than biro tattoos.

slash: And burn! But no, really, slash in the sense of boys kissing.

slytherin: I am so, so amused that hogwarts_elite sorted me into Gryffindor. Maybe it means that I’ve lost my Slytherin side?

smallville: As soon as Lex leaves when the seventh season is over, I’m going to stop watching. In the meantime, he’s pretty and Chloe is one of my all-time favourite girl characters. SERIOUSLY.

spilt silver: Liquid silver, pooling like mercury. Pretty.

split ribcages: with lollipops inside. Reference to a story I wrote for Savior.

subtle sarcasm: Sometimes, it’s really funny to mock someone to their face and have them fail to realize it. Other times, it’s just depressing.

suicide through sleep-deprivation: That’s how I’m going to die if I ever knock myself off.

superstition: It’s just religion without a god.

tobias/ax: I don’t care that they’re technically related. Ax and Tobias are shorms; they both lose so much and are so alone.

tobias/rachel: Ohgods. My two favourite chars from the series and I still, still, STILL can’t think of them together without thinking of Rachel’s death scene and the part where Rachel wanted to kill Taylor and Tobias told her “Rachel. Be Rachel, not her”, and the bit with David and askdjasdlkjasdodsksad;lasd there is so much love in me for this beautiful, doomed, so-in-love couple. I can’t get enough of their dynamic. She keeps him human, she loves the fight and he morphs to human and cries for her when she is killed in front of his eyes. He has to stand there and watch, knowing she is going to die and OW, oh Rachel, oh Rachel, you and Tobias break my heart so many times over and I will forever love K.A. Applegate for writing such a damn good death scene and hate the fact that you had to die at all. Rachel. Rachel.

un: I’m working here, of course I’m interested!

utena: She’s a prince. With pink hair. Possibly the only pink-haired character I like.

vermillion: Another shade of red. Interesting that all the synonyms I have so far are for red, blue and green. Purple, orange, yellow and pink get no love from me.

weird crayon colors: If only this came at the top instead of in alphabetical order, it would explain so much about all the random colors in my interests list

white water-rafting: I loved this just a little bit more than mountain climbing because if you fall out of the raft, you have a chance of swimming or treading water until you’re rescued. If you fall off a mountain without your line safely secured, then you just go SPLAT. No chance of safety at all. The leeches were a pain, though, last time.

wilde: Nobody writes as beautifully as he does. NOBODY.

writing: Writing is a way of saving your words for posterity – or just for your own reference, in your old age.

yami no bakura: I wanted to RP him at ygo_rpg. Dani already had him, so I took Yami no Malik instead and man, we had FUN together!

yami no malik: Psychotic, Inhuman and fucking awesome. Deliciously cruel and vicious. What’s not to love?

yamishipping: Yami no Bakura x Yami no Malik x Yami no Yuugi. I don’t really like threesomes, so this is the only one I have on my interests list.

yaoi: Hardcore slash, or so I hear. It’s the FAKE to Gravitation.

yu-gi-oh: That’s how the TV shows say it!

yuri: Girls love too. Each other, that is.

yuugiou: Fandom spells it like this. I use it to refer to the manga and Yu-Gi-Oh to the anime, personally.
