So, while most of the world is busy either reading HP7, wanking over HP7, watching the wank about HP7 or professing how much they do not care about HP7, Bush is now authorized to take the possessions of anyone accused of undermining the peace in Iraq, or who is even suspected of doing that. Wicked Socks' entry here has a good collection of links to get you up to speed.

Makes sense, I suppose. America is how far in debt now? This is a great solution to that! Forget the tax cuts for the wealthy, and the mass outrage that those caused. Let's just seize the property of those filthy liberals that cause despair and alarm instead!

I'd like to see Bush trying to figure out what to do with my Gravitation doujinshi. He'd probably burn them as soon as he figures out what's going on behind the transparent censor bars.

Many, many thanks to ceresi, who tipped me off to it (lack of Internet means that I'm a little news-deprived over here in Europe), and who also talked about the latest happenings in Strikethrough '07, which are basically highly depressing insofar as teen sexuality is made of evil according to lj, if the teenagers are under 18. Their logic is that since the servers are located in the US, they have to abide by the US age of consent.

Which doesn't really work for me because, again, I grew up in Europe. The age of consent that I'm used to is 16. I've RPed chars that are sixteen being in sexual relationships, and I wouldn't want their RP journals deleted because of that. Hell, I'm pretty sure that I've written fic about chars that are already in relationships where it's assumed they're having sex, even if I rather suck at actually writing sex scenes and just dodge out of it as much as possible.

Hey, you could think of a few obvious similarities between Bush and the Voldemort-run Ministry of Magic! Kill or lock up the impure ones; only pureblood Americans deserve freedom. Hmm, lets put "freedom" in quotes there :x

Also, to point out the "age 16" deal, in many states in the US legal age is 17 and there are some that are 16. Most of them, I think, fall at the age of 17. Which does make even that much of a difference if they want to put it at the consent of "18". They're also very fishy on what they allow vs not allow. Since, during their last batch of posts it included that fandom was more-or-less safe and that it was okay. And many comments state that legally something written that is purely fictional cannot give them right to "do something about it" - up to a point. I'm waiting to see exactly who gets "attacked" first - if it's wronged. To see exactly what they're going after. And, the "safe" thing is that someone suggests (someone working for some part of LJ) that it's just better to FLOCK your entries that may be questioned. Since someone has to point your journal out in the first place and such things. And they have to have a dang good reason to be going into FLOCK posts and such.

Also, that it's "ironic" that they say Fandom is safe prior to Perm Account sales and then right around HP7, it's brought back up again and bringing in age - considering the average age of the HP characters...

*trails off*

And... Bush.... *head shake and sigh* It's not over soon enough.
