You're right about that. I can't see a parent alright with the idea of forcing a child to go through that pain, but beyond all of the pro-life shit, it is really hard to give up a child. That, of course, is a selfish desire, in a sense, but any one person would struggle with it. Again, if the parent was dedicated to giving that child the best life they possibly could, I can see them going ahead with the birth.
She, though, doesn't sound like she's doing that. I've never been fond of women who go back to work immediately after childbirth. Pregnancy leave is there for a reason. Of course, I understand the people who just can't afford to take time off, but I seriously, seriously doubt she was in such a situation. I do feel very sorry for that child, and I don't blame you one bit for being upset over the issue.
On a slightly different note, I read part of her acceptance speech before I got mad at her (and before I saw this entry), and I will never understand a politician's need to relay... I guess, their life story? It wasn't really even that though. Just her talking about how she met her husband, how she adored her husband, etc. I was just sort of like, "Congratulations...? What does this have to do with running my country?"
With Obama, I really need to look deeper into his policies before I even decide on him. My parents, who are planning to vote for him (??), think he's more idealistic and has little idea of actually how to carry out his plans, and if that's the case... well, that's no good. I also know next to nothing about Biden, so I need to research him as well. Your link didn't work, though, when I tried to click it, but I'll just google it and read up on it myself. Thank you for pointing the policy out to me. (=
