HELP!

Laptop is turning off randomly. It doesn't even have a low battery warning, which would make no sense anyway since it's plugged into the AC, and it just blacks out without any prior signs of distress.

I got a new battery and AC adaptor both sometime in March I think, so it can't be either of those, hopefully.

Advice please?

*is here for a short while - not sure for how long, buuut* - I suggest calling the people and talking to them. That way, it doesn't cost you anything and they might be able to give you advice.

>_> When there's a battery warning, what type of warning is it? Did you accidently (or someone) turn it off? Remember, I donno anything about laptops. If it's a light that turns off/on or a different colour, could the light itself be blown out? And... considering when it happened, it should still be under warranty, right?

Good luck.

Talk to you whenever we talk next <3

Hope your laptop gets fixed >_>

There aren't any battery warnings at all because it's running off AC so should run indefinitely.

And the lights are fine, and the problem is the laptop keeps shutting off with no warning. Really that simple. Everything is supposedly working fine X_X

And it's under warranty until August so if something is wrong with it, I ought to get it fixed fast ^^;;

What's the latest news on your laptop? *hopes for the best*

X_x *prods it* It's just being weird *glares at it*

Yeah @___@

[identity profile] fickle-goddess.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It died on Saturday after four hours but has been behaving well otherwise so I'm trying to avoid taking it into the shop so far.

[identity profile] xinda.livejournal.com 2005-07-28 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
*prods it* If it misbehaves before August, take it (if that's when the war. is out). But *pets it* Hopefully, you won't have to.

[identity profile] fickle-goddess.livejournal.com 2005-07-28 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
...I really don't want to, but it did misbehave last Saturday. I'm going to give it a few more days to see.

[identity profile] xinda.livejournal.com 2005-07-28 02:40 pm (UTC)(link)
*nods* I can understand why. *lifts glass of... psychoshipping juice* Here's to hoping there are no more problems with your laptop (or anything, for that matter)

[identity profile] fickle-goddess.livejournal.com 2005-07-28 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
And it broke again today.

So yeah, this Saturday, I will call them about taking it in.

O_O Psychoshipping juice as in sperm mixed from Marik and Bakura?! EWWWWWWWWW!

[identity profile] xinda.livejournal.com 2005-11-05 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Your laptop *pets it and cooes at it to behave always*

X_______X Ewww, I was more thinking of blood and THEM, but eeeeewwwxD Glow in the dark?

There are two things that could be causing this. One is a faulty AC connection on your laptop, but even if it was that the battery should kick in, so that's prolly not it. The other, which is too damn common, is windows screwed up. Too much adware and stuff can do this. Basicly it's a windows security measure so that a virus/adware/whatever doesn't destroy the comp. I suggest running AdAware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/), SpyBot S&D (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html) and running the Virus Checker of your choice (probably Norton is already on it). If all of it still doesn't help I shall reveal more of "The way of the windows".

...Svetlin?! *extreme curiosity* Never thought to see you here.

I already run Adware every few days and I have Virus Scan perpetually on, but I'll try SpyBot out too.

Thanks for the help. ^_^

It's not very hard to track you :p. Oh, an this also happens when your comp overheats. By the sounds of what happened on the roof on your b-day, it can have such consequences. That or you keep it on too long/in the sun.

[identity profile] fickle-goddess.livejournal.com 2005-07-14 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't think I was worth tracking :P

...argh. And um, you're saying that basically overheating once can have bad consequences for ages afterwards? Because it's only been doing this since after that incident in the sun and each time, it dies after it's been on for only a few hours. Before that, it was fine, except this one time it died after I'd kept it running for about three days and two nights because I was listening to music while I slept ^^;;

Any prey is worth tracking :).

As for the question, if you burn a cake once, does it stay burnt?

Excuse me - this may not be my conversation, but I really do not think it's appropriate to be referring to anyone as prey. In fact, that's verging on the territory which we call 'stalker'.

... well, actually one would define tracking a person's Livejournal on the internet 'stalking', too, but I digress.

[identity profile] fickle-goddess.livejournal.com 2005-07-14 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Prey? lol. Now what reason would you have for hunting me? *head tilt*

...*dies!* Damn. In other words, I ought to just buy a new laptop?

(Anonymous) 2005-07-14 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
For fun, the reason I do all things :).

As for the laptop... I may be 100% wrong. You should get it checked out first, since I can'T really help you from 5000 miles away...

[identity profile] fickle-goddess.livejournal.com 2005-07-14 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, what will you do with me once (or if) you catch me? :P

Yeah, I'll do that. *nods* I seriously don't want to have to get a new one.

(Anonymous) 2005-07-14 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
It's all about the thrill of the hunt, panicked faces etc :)

A suggestion I acn give you is to re-install windows and see if that helps. Can sometimes solve such probs.

[identity profile] fickle-goddess.livejournal.com 2005-07-14 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
But you can't see my panicked face, silly :P

...oh goddess. I think I'll see if I can get it sent in for repairs or whatnot first. Thank you for the advice though ^_~

>>Laptop is turning off randomly. It doesn't even have a low battery warning, which would make no sense anyway since it's plugged into the AC, and it just blacks out without any prior signs of distress.<<

If you're on it alot, motherboard could be frying ;_; sounds similar to what happened to my Toshiba laptop a while ago, and now it won't even turn on ;_; which is a bummer. It's good you're under warrenty, though. >.> Just in case, but I'd weigh it on the motherboard over a virus; laptops shouldn't turn off like that especially when charged up and blanking out. It's especially annoying when you're in a chat and you want to save it ;_;

Sorry me has been absent, hope you ish well ^^ *huggles*

[identity profile] fickle-goddess.livejournal.com 2005-07-14 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
...my laptop is a Toshiba. X_X

And I got a new motherboard in MARCH! It should still be fine *cries*

[identity profile] kahohime.livejournal.com 2005-07-14 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
>>...my laptop is a Toshiba. X_X<<

THEY'RE EVIL I TELL YOU.

EVIL!

It... is a conspiracy! ;__________;

Please do not tell me it's an 1800 series ;_; I will weap... we'd have twin laptops.

I have a dell laptop prior to an AMD duron desktop and it's been giving me no problems, but I am expecting them soon O_o;;;

[identity profile] fickle-goddess.livejournal.com 2005-07-14 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Toshiba Satellite A65-1065 :P

Thankfully not 1800. But yes, my laptop seems to be cursed...
