waaah!

Kathy spilt water on my phone charger so I couldn't use my phone to call the laptop people to get my laptop fixed and it conked out during a conversation with Sian!

...which sucks since thanks to Book Six, I really need to change how I was planning to play Draco over at [livejournal.com profile] woolsocks_rp.

I mean, Draco CRYING in a bathroom about how he has to kill Dumbledore or his family will suffer? Points to JKR for having at least given his character some depth and pulled him away from the black-and-white area but waaaaah! That means my char is stuck unwillingly working for Voldemort and is probably going to ANGST about it.

As a sidenote, the Harry/Ginny came out of nowhere, as did the Tonks/Lupin. I am highly displeased with how many times during the book I had to keep blinking to make sure I wasn't reading printed-out fanfic. Bad fanfic at that. Deus ex machina, anyway?

Or, to quote [livejournal.com profile] bubonicplague, 6. JKR needs to step away from the angsty teen romance. Seriously, I have seen better in Sweet Valley High. Really.

And Bill. Ohgods. Don't get me started on the half-werewolf, half-vampire, half-elf liekomgsototallycool!111eleventy-one!!!!Bill. New and improved with extra Stuness.

On the bright side, I did like seeing Voldemort as a kid and strongly favor the idea of Snape still being a double-agent.

And I love Narcissa like nothing else around. I suddenly crave Narcissa/Severus/Lucius, and my liking for Draco/Severus has been renewed thanks to the oath he took.

I really want to see a fic now post Book Six where Draco threatens self-harm in order to manipulate Snape into his bed. Too bad Draco seems too weak to do that now ^^;;

R.A.B is totally Regulus Black where I'm concerned, and I think that Harry is a Horcrux of some sort, or at least partially one. *nods* [livejournal.com profile] garlandgraves wrote a good mini-essay about it here.

I didn't see the H/G as coming out of nowhere, considering how Harry has always viewed Ginny, plus the fact that he finally has gone a year without Cho infatuation and is older than twelve, PLUS the fact that Harry is too dense (girl-wise, anyway) and never actually saw Ginny really enjoy herself with another guy. And Harry is 16.

But yes, I can understand if you're a bit miffed, it could have been a little more elaborate if JK had wanted to put out a few more pages (I mean, she didn't mind doing that for the last two books, ne? X_X)--but at the same time, I don't mind so much because it was highly comical and preferable compared to CAPSLOCK!Harry of the previous year.

I really hope Snape can fix himself in the end, even if I don't see a whole lotta hope for this. The next book better be MASSIVE to tie all this up.

Fleur = THE YAY. XD

I got the same feeling that R.A.B is Regulus Black, which would be a nice redeeming factor for him and explain why he was killed.

I was rather impressed with Narcissa, to be honest.

My <3 for Ginny is uber-high as always.

Hermione sending the canaries after Ron = priceless XD

I'm satisfied shipping-wise, so now the next book will probably have little shippiness in it. Which I would be ok with if it's there at the end, when all is over with.

And I hope Harry's not the one to snuff it. But I wouldn't put it past JK.

It honestly just came out of nowhere for me. I mean, I'm not especially fond of Harry or Ginny so I couldn't care less whom they're paired with, including each other, but the whole sudden monsterous jealousy thing was just odd. *slash shipper so knows her ships will never come true and hence simply doesn't care about shippings in canon*

Fleur rocked and so did Narcissa. I'm so glad to have a canon reason to like Narcissa now. XD Whee for other people thinking R.A.B is Regulus! It would be nice to have Sirius be wrong about him as well.

Eh. I don't really care all that much as long as Draco and Snape don't die, but that seems unlikely. Harry's probably going to kill Snape in a fit of righteous rage, find out later he was wrong, then wangst about it ^^;;

Wouldn't surprise me a bit, actually. I totally understand your apathy for Harry and Ginny, seeing as neither one of them are dark or psychotic and your icons generally display your intense love for characters of that degree. ;)

[identity profile] fickle-goddess.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! Yeah, there is always that. ^^;; Though I have read some dark!Harry fics that I adored.

[identity profile] homgsekrit.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes. Narcissa really shined in this one. She wormed her way into my heart as well.

You know, you and I-chan have a point though--more pages would have been nice. This one does feel lacking in areas.

Harry as a Horcrux kinda makes me wince, because now that you mention it...gah...that would make so much since. X__X Bleh. Like Sirius' and Dumbledore's deaths weren't enough.

And honestly, I felt like I was reading fanfiction myself, but I felt the same way back when I read Book 5. Hasn't anyone really considered that this just means some fanfiction is really good if you can read an author-written work and wonder? *shrugs*

Draco...oy. x__X He wormed his way into my heart, and had definite depth...but I don't think he's too weak to threaten self-harm--he just isn't fond of hurting someone else. And for some reason, I don't see anything wrong with that. It made me like Draco...the fact that he couldn't do it.

Regulus Black--sounds good to me. And as I-chan also pointed out, makes sense and would explain some things.

[identity profile] fickle-goddess.livejournal.com 2005-07-17 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
XD I've always been a Narcissa fan just because I've read some stunning fics about her, and I am SO glad that she's now justified in canon.

Book Five wasn't that bad. I mean, it wasn't good either but it didn't strike as me 'OMG, she's writing fanfic!'. I think it's just that all the angsty teen romance in this made it come off fanficcy since it seemed to have more of that than anything else ~_~ Plot, anyone?!

Draco, I mean he's too conflicted and ripped up at the moment to consider seducing Snape with the threat of self-harm. If his family is in danger, he's unlikely to be messing around with sex and stuff really. XD Not that I'm saying there is anything wrong with him, I adore him of course, but he's too angsty at the moment. *can't believe the char she picked for being cool, arrogant and in control turned into an angst-ridden tool of Voldemort!*

Book five...I went through that a couple of times, the fanfiction thing. I forget just what moments currently, and I'm thinking of my first impression here, not the one I had while re-reading it.

And I don't go, "OMG! Is this a fanfic." I stop, I blink, and then I look at the cover, see it, then go back to reading. ^^;;

I think everything else we covered. Points made and loved. >3 <3
