Linkage.

Ended up on [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes again thanks to [livejournal.com profile] arezon, and found some good links while I was there.

21 stupidest quotations about Hurricane Katrina.

And no, not stupid as in uninformed everyday people, stupid as in government leaders.

Wedding Crashers.

So, you know that romantic comedy that's supposedly quite cool? I considered going to see it. Didn't. Am so glad I didn't since it apparently contains rape and non-con... kicker being that it's a guy being victimized by a girl, because hey, that makes it okay! *rolls eyes*

Man donating money for Hurricane Katrina fund with every comment.

The explanation is quoted below:

For those of you who read me casually (or less often than that), my name is Tony Hellmann. I'm a non-fiction writer with a day job and a finished novel I'm trying to get published. I'm not rich, but I'm not poor either.

I donated $20 to the American Red Cross the day after the levees broke. I didn't feel like it was enough, and I have coworkers that feel bad because they can't afford to send $10.

I've decided to do something about it, for those that feel bad that money in their wallets is outpaced by the sympathy in their hearts.

I've decided to send a dollar to the American Red Cross for every person that leaves a comment to this entry by next Sunday. I'll also send two dollars for every literary agent or person with a published novel who leaves a comment, because you folks have fans/large readerships, and fans like to participate with the objects of their attention. To the same effect, I'll donate $10 if your last name is Nielsen-Hayden or Scalzi. :)

Mention this on your blogs, drive the comment numbers up, and donate money without spending any. I'll post a PDF of the Red Cross receipt after I donate.

Click and comment minions. Only takes a few seconds of your time.

Hm. *lightens mood up a little* What about hikari-toy? Is hikari-toy minion or something special?

But seriously, yeah, commented on that one.

And, I cannot believe that - those quotes! That's... disturbing. As is the movie.

Mostly for the sake of lack of WARNINGS. Whether people like something or not - I can have as much opinion and feelings towards the people as I want, but there SHOULD be warnings for a movie like that. *I* hadn't thought that it would have anything like that. So much, so often? Let alone the very idea? Let alone *not* give any warnings?

If I wasn't so sleepy at the moment, I'm sure I could go on.

Instead, I'll go to something positive - including commenting on that final link.

Gah, this is why I hate politics. Some of those quotes weren't even remotely stupid or out of place (though, of course, some REALLY REALLY were), yet everyone jumps on the little bandwagon and goes omg there's a hurricane let's diss bush and his group!!!one!!1.

Fuck that.

(but w00t for the guy donating for every comment)
