Geeky update.

Gamer earns six-figure salary. I'd love it if I could do that. But, I don't game, and even if I did, I doubt that I'd be good enough at it to make a living despite insanely good luck when it comes to pulling off combos with no idea of how I did.

Secondly, I command you all to read Networking. One of the best fics I've ever read, it's actually a NaNoWriMo project structured around computers and how they parallel humans. There's Mac/PC, Alienware/Mac, and the ever-flirtatious Googlebot/everyone - the dialogue is wonderful, the characters incredibly well-fleshed out and the tight plot is gripping.

Want proof of how much I loved it? I checked out her personal journal and she'd asked for Xmas cards snail-mailed, so I e-mailed her to get her address along with a slightly gushy review of her fic, which I've copied below to prove how awesome I find her.

Edit: You know you're addicted to a fic when you check the writer's personal journal, find two extra bits, squeal with joy and instantly decide to handmake them an Xmas card. It's [livejournal.com profile] googlebrat in case anyone else is that desperately in love with her fic.

Hi!

...You probably have no clue who I am, but I found your Networking fic, the one you're doing for NaNoWriMo, and adored it. I read the entire thing in one day, squealed with glee once I saw that were was an update for today, and even had my RP journal for a tech addict add every single part of it to memories. Honestly, that fic is just flat-out awesome. I love the way you characterized the different computers, and it's amazing how realistic their interactions are. The disapproval of computers with NTDs, the Mac-PC snobbery, the PC's desire to show off his shiny new Mac? Perfect. Utterly perfect in how they mirror people's interactions with others.

Alienware has got to be my favorite character so far, though. I adore him. The indifferent anti-hero that fights on the sly? He rocks. The archetype and the way you made it work just utterly rocks my socks right off. Googlebot is great comic relief as well, and I swear, reading about the G5 made me want to go adopt one, even though my poor Toshiba would probably pout at that.

Anyway, now that I got the rampant fangirling out of the way, I checked out your livejournal in hopes of finding more fic, and ran across your wishlist instead, where you said that you liked receiving Xmas cards, and to e-mail you for the address. I figured that if you managed to entertain me so well with your fic and bring such amusement to me as well as everyone else I recced it to, the least I could do is send you a card in exchange. And I promise I won't fangirl as much. ^_~

So, consider this a request for your address?

~Fickle, who really didn't mean for this e-mail to get so long.

Mary Fucking Magdalene was more my reaction, but Christ works too. XD

*nods* I loved it, and ended up totally stunned that any fic could make me so awe-stricken. *doesn't fangirl easily* XDD I'm glad my judgment is confirmed and thrilled you liked it. As for the pairings... >_>

PC's an abusive bastard for whoring that poor little Mac out, but at the same time, he is trying to improve and THAT's so real as well that it's hard to hate him as much as I should. I don't think that I want PC/Mac but at the same time, I'm not sure if I'd go for Alienware/Mac just because the Alienware way outclasses him. Alienware made me think of Seto. Maybe Alienware/Pirate? Too bad the Linux has to be the bad guy, else I would have gone for Alienware/Linux. *hearts Linux like WHOA*

http://www.livejournal.com/community/anthropomor_fic/36174.html#cutid1 There's more of the fic there, since she posts the unbetated stuff to the comm first. Enjoy it. XD *is going to link the author back here so she can see how much her story is loved*
