Link of the day -- shoujo manga.

Link of the Day: The Dangers of Shoujo Manga.

Is shoujo manga a bad influence on girls? This article certainly seems to think so. I didn't recognize all that many of the titles listed except Paradise Kiss and Gravitation, but the article does make a fairly persuasive argument, even though the manga that I personally prefer don't really seem to fit into that category.

...Paradise Kiss, though, I will admit to being disappointed that the guy I liked turned out to have been a rapist, and Gravi, well, I read it for the slash so shut up :P

hehe. I don't agree with the link fully, but it brings up a lot of good points.

I agree with WR.

You're exhausted? Sleep.

And, on another note. Thought you might like this (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/9709929/) - just maybe. You have your link of the day, so I share with you a piece of art I found.

Of course, my problem with most of those shoujo manga is that there isn't anywhere NEAR enough porn to make me subject myself to that sort of kink. I like my D/s with a nice big helping of SEX, thank you. xD

*cracks up, then dies from laughing too hard*

Nice encapsulation of your point. I do have some manga that I'd classify as shoujo, but the themes tend not to center around romance (PsoH, Utena, Othello being the ones that spring to mind) so I can't really vote one way or another. Though I did read Peach Girl as the only manga in the Somerville Public Library and it SUCKED. Really. Hated it.
