She Wants Revenge/Placebo concert!
First of all, for all of you wondering about the slash mark in my subject line, THAT'S HOW THE TICKETS HAVE IT, OKAY?! The prospect of the Roxy sponsoring gay sex between Placebo and She Wants Revenge would excite me more if I was actually into bandslash/RPS instead of being squicked by it, but even I have to say that it's scarily plausible.
Why?
Because the lead singer of She Wants Revenge (whose name I don't know) has been dubbed (in my head at least), Gay Pirate Roberts.
He wore a hat that flattened his hair down, an open vest thingie over a tight tee, tight pants with one leg folded up (and only one leg) and did the Gayest Poses Ever. And spent a lot of time with his back to the audience, poking his ass out.
...Yeah. I really don't think that I need to justify my choice of a nickname for him any more than that.
But who cares about She Wants Revenge? It's Placebo everyone wants to hear about!
Placebo, as I was fully expecting them to, rocked my world. The doors opened at 7, I was waiting in line since 6:30, they only got on stage and started playing at 10:15 so I waited nearly four hours to hear them, but it was worth every freaking minute. XD
I recognized nearly every song they played, and I was in the front row. Sadly, I was on the side instead of in the center so I was right next to a huge speaker that has possibly done permanent damage to my hearing (do I care? No. Watch me fail to care) and on the wrong side to actually get to reach out and touch Brian Molko when he walked out onto the speakers and started swiping hands with the audience. Then he licked his hand and swiped it over their hands!!!
I was torn between an 'omg ew' reaction and 'BRIAN MOLKO SALIVA' reaction. According to RR, if she'd been there and gotten some of his spit, she'd be torn between jamming her hand into her mouth straight afterwards, or into her panties. *snickers*
Anyway, songs! They opened with Infra-red, went onto Meds, and then I can't remember which order they played the songs in, but they also performed Drag, Every Me and Every You, Taste In Men, Song to Say Goodbye, Special K, Because I Want You and The Bitter End. The last two songs that they played, I didn't recognize, but I knew all the others so shouted along quite happily. And jumped in place a lot. And screamed myself ab-so-fucking-lute-ly hoarse at the end of each song.
No encores, but I did buy a size small guy's tour t-shirt for Placebo. Why a guy's one? Because it was only $25, whereas the girl's one was $30 and I just didn't have $30 on me. The amusing thing is that the ticket was only $22.50 so the t-shirt was actually more expensive than the concert. But the t-shirt'll last for ages whereas Placebo only played for an hour, but it was an awesome hour.
Okay. Time to take off all my makeup and wash the blue streaks out of my hair. I wonder if Placebo songs are the right type to sing in the shower? Time for me to find out!
