And then I was writing that story, and I just kept thinking about how it's gold, silver, bronze and yellow as the secondary colors for the Houses. Gold is the most precious but silver is stronger than gold, and bronze is heavier than both of them. There are, in myths, Golden Ages, Silver Ages, and Bronze Ages, but no Yellow Ages.
One of these things is not like the other, and that's Helga. Sal can be misunderstood and pseudo-evil all that he wants, but it's Helga that's the heart of them, like you put it. Helga's the one that binds them together and keeps them from falling apart; she's the solid ground to their brilliance.
