Yes! The world is over!

Or, at least, finals are. I turned everything in, parents are flying up on the 26th for commencement, and I am going to do my best to catch up with my flist again,

So, that said, FLIST, talk to me! We just had a crazy season ending for House. And Desperate Housewives sort of KILLED me. *pokes you all* I know you guys watch those shows, so talk to me about them! I'm cutting for spoilers, even.

For all of you that are wondering since when do I watch DH, the answer is two weeks. Possibly three weeks. I got through all the eps in record time, barring a few days where I decided not to watch because a plotline in Season Two made me FLAIL, and then I started again because it was the 10th and it seemed appropriate. Anyway, thoughts on the finale!

Desperate Housewives:

1) Why'd Dylan get so mad? True, her mother lied to her about her identity but she got adopted from a Romanian orphanage! That's good! She had a nice life!

2) Thank all the gods that Kayla got sent off. I hate that kid so much. I seriously do. Child abuse is SERIOUS and you do not fucking falsely accuse someone of it, it makes it even less likely that other kids will be believed!

3) I also hate Kayla for having got the twins into trouble and for threatening Penny. I just wish that Tom could've heard her do that so that he'd know that she's evil. Seriously evil. I feel weird about wishing evil on a kid char, but I want karma to kick her in the ass so that she'll know what bad parents really are like, since Lynette was trying incredibly hard to make Kayla feel like part of the family.

4) Police covering for their buddies made me think of a Cold Case ep I watched that did it better. The shooting range scene with Bree and Katherine was pretty awesome, though. I'm not a Bree fan at all, but I do like her insistence on being able to protect herself.

5) I really hope that the next season will explain the five-year jump. I don't want to happen because I don't think that I liked ANYONE's life there, but I want an explanation for it!

6) Preston having been in juvie and Porter also getting arrested for joyriding? BOO! Though I love that Lynette and Tom are still together, and I love even more the speech that Tom gave Lee and Bob about how they shouldn't get married if they can't even deal with the little problems. Like ice sculptures.

7) omg. WHY does Susan have a new guy in her life? WHY? I like Mike! I don't like his mother, and I don't like the "War of Northern Aggression" bit or the "good Southern name" of Maynard, but Mike was good to Susan and he really loved and nearly worked himself to death trying to give her a wedding as good as Ian could've.

8) I want to know more about Julie, she was probably my favorite kid char. Though Andrew's cool too, for a sociopath, but he lost my sympathy when he faked having been abused. And what happened to Zach and his fortune?

9) Speaking of fortunes, OUCH to Gabrielle. She really seems to have deteriorated and the kid with the really thick eyebrows can't be genetically hers, can she? Not after the whole storyline about the artificial insemination and everything. And is Gaby raising those kids on her own with Carlos out of the picture?

10) We didn't get to see what happened to Edie. AND I really want to write up a post about girlspace and shunning and the way that they treated Edie and why, exactly, it's unfair and how a female-dominant show deals with misogyny and gender roles.

Of course, since DH has a tiny, practically non-existent fandom (do you love me and want to make me happy? Write me fic about Andrew's stint as a hooker. Or Bree/Andrew fic. Or Julie-centric fic.) I don't think that anyone would be very interested in My Thoughts on Female Interaction, but I still want to write it or at least talk to someone about it because man, that pissed me off.

11) Conclusion? I'm a little nervous about what's going to happen in Season Five. But I am going to be watching.

I saved up the last two eps so that I could watch the season finale all at once and man, I don't even know where to start! Mostly chronological order, I think.

House:

1) Chase doing medical hypnosis. Oh MAN. If there's one complaint I always have about House, it's that there is Not Enough Chase. I love Chase actually being competent, and I love how serious he is about hypnotizing House even when House is snarking at him. Kutner makes the world sort of awesome for having House's epiphanies, and Chase makes the show awesome with his floppy blond hair and Aussie accent.

2) Cuddy as a stripper. Um. wtf? Don't get me wrong, I loved the dance and Cuddy has a seriously hot bod but it sort of disturbed me in a way that I can't exactly pinpoint. Part of it is the sexualization of his boss, yeah, but I think it bugged me a little on a meta level of it seeming like a cheap way to throw in some T&A. House, as a show, isn't one that I'd expect to turn on and see partially-naked chicks doing sexual acts, and although it probably fits great in his subconscious, it's a bit jarring for me. Cuddy's one of my fav chars, so it's a bit annoying to me to see a strong female char suddenly stripped down for titillation purposes.

3) Cuddy getting shot down for the sake of the puzzle! That, I have to admit, was kind of cool. I liked that Cuddy kept talking about the puzzle even as she was doing her dance and the fact that Amber was clothed because she's the patient as opposed to clothed because House has THAT much respect for her was reassuring.

4) Random chick with the amber necklace. I totally got that answer wrong -- when she asked what the necklace was of, and House said 'resin', I thought the answer would be that she's the embodiment of reason in House's head. Partly because it would've been awesome if he saw Reason as female.

5) "We are always going to want just a little longer." Amber's death scene. Talk about sheer ow. Poor Wilson. And him going back to the bed that they'd shared and had the whole episode about buying? A LOT of ow.

6) I like the little scene with both their bare feet. It seems fitting that you shouldn't have to wear shoes.

7) House wanting to stay on the bus because it doesn't hurt and he's scared of Wilson hurting? All sorts of "...Yeah. Vulnerable anti-hero moment ftw." And Amber looks so peaceful in that, almost pretty even though I don't usually find her physically attractive (though I do like her personality, and yes, I know she's a cut-throat bitch but she's got strength).

8) Damn to 13 having Huntington's. Though that followed up by Taub hugging his much-loved wife? I honestly do think this is a great episode from a stylistic POV, just for the way that they cut Kutner on his own with Foreman, Chase and Cameron meeting up. With Chase in that YUMMY leather jacket. Oh, Chase. ♥

9) Cuddy asleep on the chair near House's bed with bare feet sort of tugs on my heartstrings. I don't ship Cuddy/House but I'd buy it as believable. And for some reason, I associate bare feet with vulnerability/playfulness, so I loved that and the detail of her holding his hand even as she's asleep.

10) Awesome finale. It kinda sucks that Amber died but it's better than a House/Amber/Wilson love triangle which is where the first part of the finale sort of pointed at it going, so overall, YAY. Can't wait for Season Five!

In this case, I'd say it definitely WASN'T a happy ending. And as for Amber, I kinda liked her too. She had guts, she refused to let Wilson be all self-sacrificing on her behalf, she stood up to House and was just generally cool. 13, jury's still out for me. I do like her not giving in to House, but on the other hand, it feels a bit like they're overplaying the bisexual thing. Or maybe that's just her having fun tweaking everyone else's noses.

Amber's death scene was really kind of awesome. She died with grace and it was believeable, which is way rare. So it was awesome.

As for DH, yes! Mike and Susan have gone through a lot to be together! And she really needs to stop cycling through romantic partners so fast. Poor Julie. And LOL to thinking it was Maynard. XD I was wondering if Mike took Maynard with him and I had to rewind and watch carefully TWICE just to make sure it wasn't a dressed-up Mike. (It's not.)

Kayla, I don't know. Lynette made the boys be nice to her, and ended up getting walked all over when Kayla refused to obey her rules and she gave in. But yeah, Kayla definitely always blamed Lynette, which sort of makes sense -- I'm just glad that nobody knows that Nora got shot DIRECTLY because of something that Lynette said. Though I am glad Nora died, she creeped the hell out of me and had no business hitting on Tom. And I am so glad that Tom figured it out, though I hope this doesn't cause additional stress for when Kayla's a teenager. I see her as being the stalkerish type who seduces her half-brothers to get them into even MORE trouble. Or something. >_>

As for Gaby, eh. Her hair had gone all stringy and I think they tried to make her lose her figure by bulking her up. Though I'm still shocked she's supposedly a 00. I can't believe that even a 0 isn't small enough!

Edie, I'm glad she didn't kill her because THAT would've seemed way OOC. But I hate the whole girlspace attitude of shunning and the fact that Gaby already tried to pull that once on Edie. It's too Mean Girls, you know? And it's not like the other chars haven't done some pretty horrible things. I mean, Bree ABANDONED Andrew. Hands-down, that's probably the worst thing that I think any of the mothers have done on the show. Andrew telling her that it was necessary and thanking her for it only disturbed me further.

I liked Amber. I thought she was a bit 1-D during the competition portion, but that wasn't really her fault; I sorta felt she would have become a much better character if she had been one of the members, and I think that was proven by her reintroduction back into the series. The bisexual thing for 13 is sorta whatever for me. I feel they really need to develop the new team; I love Kutner (sp?), but really I feel they haven't managed to do very much.

Definitely not Mike. >>;; I hope they didn't just break up or something. I'd rather him be dead, which is kinda horrible but after all the shit they went through and to still kinda split up? That would suck. >_<

But I guess it's kinda like... telling your kids to be nice to the new family member isn't the same as making her a part of the family. If she treats Kayla differently, it's still making her feel like an outsider. I kinda hope they don't go back to the Kayla thing in the future because... yeah, she was just scary disturbing and there didn't seem to be any real conclusion to it short of getting her killed, which would be kinda lame.

The other characters have done awful things, but not to each other I guess is the difference. What Edie's been doing has negatively impacted them.

I know it's kinda horrible, but I don't know what I would have done if I was in Bree's position with Andrew. He really was just... a monster at that time, almost to the point that I couldn't really blame her. ^^

Everyone was a little 1-D during the competition bit. But I still loved Kutner a lot then just because of the "bring on the pain" bit XD It made me giggle like crazy. Speaking of him, did you get what was up with the dead parents bit? It made me think Batman, which is not especially helpful.

He's already been in a coma. I figure dead isn't that far away and yes, after all that, I think dead that might be better than her deciding he's not worth it, or vice versa. I like Ian, though!

Kayla, I liked her at the start. And then it turned out she was evil. I remember that Lynette tried to treat Kayla the same but Kayla refused to obey her and then tattled to Tom. Which was all sorts of oi. I think that Lynette might've been in over her head with trying to take Kayla in at all, considering the backstory.

That's possible, though Andrew killing Gaby's mother-in-law and getting shielded by Bree was a bad thing since nobody really knew that Gaby needed her mother-in-law dead anyway. XD But OMG I LOVED CARLOS BEING ACCUSED OF HATE CRIMES SO MUCH. Idiot. XDD It was fantastic.

I don't quite get their idea of 'reforming' Andrew. He was acting like a sociopath/amoral to me. Based off that, I'd think that getting stuck on the streets would make him even more resentful of her.

Kutner was like... retarded, and he still is. But that's why I adore him so much. He's like a puppy, but not in as much a suck-up way as a 'I'm an idiot but yay this is fun!' way. XD I don't know. I didn't really notice him at the beginning (although I had a bet going on with my roomie that he would be the minority to get in) but I love him so much now. Although yeah, the parents thing. That was, um. Random and really depressing. Poor guy.

Ian was pretty good, but the bet thing was kinda... grr. That's my only real complaint about him. I always liked Mike better though, just because I'm a sentimental softy, but I wouldn't have minded if she was with Ian. Pretty sure that guy wasn't Ian though. Eek.

Kayla seemed normal at the beginning. Now she's like bratty evil bastard child. I kinda feel that with that, it was pretty much a lost cause from the beginning no matter what Lynette tried to do. Although I still feel that Lynette probably just couldn't handle the kid, not just because she's the evil bastard child but just who she represents? Don't know if that makes any sense though. :p

Carlos and Gabby are like... the idiotic couple who get off on hating each other or something. But it's really cute. I can't help it, but the scene where they were destroying the house? I loved it so much.

I think with Andrew, it was... they had to do something with him, but maybe they went too far? I personally like the change because evil/psycho Andrew was annoying and I wanted to get rid of him, but the change was a little too extreme and too sudden. I feel they need to bring back more of his psychopathic tendencies; maybe not towards his mom, but somewhere. He seems too clean cut as is right now, which is really jarring compared to the person he was in the first two seasons.
