Got a moment? Postcard Project!

If you have time, could you please send a postcard to the address below?

Ella
c/o Catherine Leake (Third Grade)
Bains Elementary
P.O. Box
1940 St.Francisville, LA 70775

Why? Explanation comes from a person that is NOT ME.

It's for my daughter, sibling to my son who has a terrible attention-getting bone and endocrine syndrome. I'd love for her to be the superstar for awhile by getting lots of postcards for her school project. They are hoping the postcards will come from lots of different places so that the kids will learn geography and other facts about new places (outside of Louisiana). We don't have much family -- and the little we have is pretty much here in Louisiana so I'm racking my brain on how to get some postcards sent to Ella. I was thinking that other parents who participate in SibSupport would appreciate how something a s simple as this could really mean a lot for a big sister who too often I'm afraid has to take the backseat to a medically
complex and fragile brother. Just looking for a way to celebrate Ella on her favorite turf, school.

A few summers ago, I worked as a Special Needs Assistant for a bunch of kids in Boston. My boss sent me an e-mail from a friend of hers in hopes that I could send a postcard from Austria. I'm going one better and recruiting all of you to send something to her.

I know you live all over the place. Different places in America, different places in the world. Please take a few seconds to grab a postcard, jot down a message, and send it off.

As someone that lived with a disabled sibling, I can tell you that it's pretty much a guarantee that your parents are going to be so busy giving attention to your sibling (who genuinely needs it) that you're going to get the short stick. Getting lots of postcards from strangers would light up this kid's year Please do it! It won't take much time, and it would make a huge difference to her, I guarantee it.

Thank you in advance. ♥

Edit: If you want to repost this to your journal or link here, go ahead! I am fully in favor of anything that'll get Ella more mail.

Lovely idea! I just wrote her a London postcard, and now must try to remember to post it on Monday!

Too bad I'm already in Louisiana, so my postcard is not very much of a help (I'm perhaps an hour away from francisville). However, could I copy this to my LJ?

Also, it's St. Francisville. This got separated in the address you are giving. But there is not a Francisville in Lousiana, so if anyone puts the address as is, a postcard should probably still reach the school as there's nowhere to confuse it with that I know of.

Totally copy it to your journal or link it around! I'd love for the girl to get as many postcards as possible. ♥

And thanks for telling me about the address mix-up. I will fix that right now!

I know it's an "as soon as possible" thing, but do you know when it wraps up? I currently don't think I have any postcards anywhere nor stamps yet.

Umm...when does this thing end? I'm like halfway across the world and while I want to help I don't think it'd be fun to receive late mail. If I know I could probably arrange for faster mail ^_^

I don't think it ends until the school year is over, so feel free to send something from wherever you are! And thank you for takng part.
