Slightly weird question that I need help with.

Not to freak you all out or anything, but does anyone know a good, reliable place to sell a kidney?

I mean, I wouldn't want to do it black market because I'd be scared of them deciding to just take both and kill me while I'm anaesthesized, but at the same time, I'm pretty sure that selling organs (even your own) is illegal in America so I'm having a hard time coming up with somewhere safe to perform an operation like that. I heard that one guy tried advertising on eBay but it got yanked, so that's out of the question anyway. Oh, and I'm also assuming that if I did it on a patient-client basis (I find someone willing to pay for one of my kidneys), that the patient would pay for the operation.

Of course, problem being that I'd have no clue where to find such a person.

So, I thought that I'd ask you guys instead.

Um...Fickle, I would imagine most places with good reputations would require kidneys to be donated. Generally they avoid buying organs/blood because there's a higher risk of contamination or foul play.

Mhm, I was thinking that would be a problem as well. Though, if someone showed up obviously willing to sell off a kidney, they could run the tests to make sure that person was clean and if the person was there and alive, they could testify it had nothing to do with foul play, and just to do with them wanting quick money.

...A plane ticket to India would wipe out most of the money you'd get from selling the kidney. Besides, the money you'd get there would be less.

You're welcome, I was just kidding about going to India. =p And...you could try that, but I think you'd have a hard time convincing them unless they were really short on kidneys. Couldn't hurt if you have the time though, I suppose.

lol, yeah, but it might be a little embarrassing to stand around begging someone to take your kidney... Still though, if people can bid uptop $5,000 on eBay for a kidney, obviously there's a need for it.

Honestly, I don't think it's legal to sell any organs in the states. Dave just looked that up, I believe and said that its not...

Hey Fickle, I know us being college students is rough and money is tight but umm....you kinda need your kidneys..even if you have two of them. o.o;

And last I checked, organ harvesting and selling is illegal in the US. You cant legally sell your organs, even if you're willing and able. The ethics behind it make it quesstionable and just...overall iffy. So yeah..unless you want to go to Japan and sell yourself on the Japanese black market to the yakuza and risk getting seriously hurt...selling your organs is just..not cool.

Besides you should keep your kidneys...your parents gave em to you! ^^; But in all serious no....you cant sell your kidneys, its not safe, and it'd just be better to obtain some money in a much more legit and safer way. *hugs you* So no organ selling!! They're yours and you worked hard 9 whole months to grow em!

And thanks for telling me it's illegal (and yeah, I knew it was a little unethical, but I'm not exactly the kind of person to worry about that) since that definitely means that I'm not going to risk it. Having only one kidney and being in jail doesn't sound like a good combination to me.

Um, it really is illegal. I think the only way to get organs is if someone signs up as an organ donor and then dies -- and even then, it's only with the family's permission. In other words: ORGANS STAY INSIDE THE BODY, MMKAY?
