There's a mathematical formula for attraction, a simple one. Take a man (not too old) and a boy (not too young). Take everything away from the boy. Give him only a burning desire for revenge, and strength with which to gain that revenge. Take the man, and give him the strength the boy wants and the wisdom that the boy is not yet old enough to realize he needs.

Throw them together. Make the boy compete for the attention he wants (needs) to learn the tricks he needs (wants). Make him work to get the older man's attention, strive and struggle and try.

Then make him re-examine his motives. Make him wonder if it's really revenge he's after, or if he just wants to see his mentor's eye smile in that half-crinkle that indicates pleasure. Make him remember that even if revenge is his ultimate goal, he will need something to keep him living when it's been accomplished. Make him realize that he's learnt more than just how to fight, to run and hide and ambush.

Make him understand what love is, and have the older man teach it to him through cloth-covered kisses, chaste and teasing. Then pull the older man away and wait for the boy to choose whether to chase him - or his brother.

Division by negatives should be impossible, but Sasuke's always found addition and subtraction to be child's play; he likes the challenge.

Don't care if people like SasuSaku, just to say that there's no proof that he cares for her at all is silly. And KakaSasu I totally understand why people wouldn't like it. In fact, the only ships I dislike are Kakashi/Iruka, Kiba/Hinata, Neji/Hinata, Iruka/Naruto, Kakashi/Naruto and Itachi/Naruto. Otherwise I'm good.

Well, only in terms of the sheer hate. People would rather bitch about what the hate instead of enjoy what they love.

I'm fine with KakaSasu actually, I just think that I haven't read enough of anything to have a real ship in the fandom. I do think that Naruto's not bad for a main char, even though he's the type I'd normally dislike, and something about Kiba/Shino (I blame

velvetlunas) makes me purr. She's one of the best smut writers EVER. Not so much hot, as really real and beautifully described.

Remus is like a sonnet, practiced and shaped, scars like words against Sirius' mouth. They are jagged and raw; there are fresh marks on him after every full moon. Sirius mouths at them, sucks the pain out of them and swallows. In his belly, they coil around each other, whispering restlessly, and Sirius sees Remus in the moon when he glances at the night sky; on the moonless nights, he seeks Remus out and curls around him, arms wrapped tightly around him, and the wounds he kissed to wellness twist like poetry in his mind, tight and coiled, contained violence that brings pain that does not belong with their sweet love.

That's beautiful, short, condensed, and fluid like a good sonnet. :)

Bah, I was in Freeman this year (and hopefully senior year). I think we just like to keep bouncing off of the opposite sides of the campus. Oh well, I plan to be spending a lot of time in Freeman anyways b/c I <3 Freeman oh so much. :P

Just because I like the new dorms for their attached dining hall, decent size rooms and closeness to the Ville. Though, at the same time, Stone D is closer to the actual academic places...

Hermione likes to think she's special. She knows she's smarter than everyone else, knows that she could easily be jumping grades if she was in a Muggle school. Her Potions work is flawless, even if Draco gets better grades and Harry gets help from the Half Blood Prince, and her grasp on Defense Against the Dark Arts is second only to Harry. She's special in the way that's actually useful, the way that'll help her get ahead in life and hold a good job, let her take care of herself and be independent instead of a twittering little salesgirl at some place like Madam Malkin's.

Still, she sees Ron kissing Lavender and wonders why, if she's so special, she's the one on her own.
