Apartment news + more on the lj strikeout '07 + drabbles
First of all, sorry about not replying to comments, I have only very little Net time at home so I'm going to respond to comments when I have more time to reply instead of just read.
Secondly, signed a lease for an apartment-type deal. It's the top floor of a house, so it has a bedroom, a study and a bathroom with a little bit of roof that's like a terrace where I can sun myself. The kitchen is on the ground floor but I'll have the house to myself between the 10th July and 11th August since the owner and her daughter will be away on holiday.
Internet-wise, which is the most important thing, she has Chello and unlimited Internet, but she doesn't have it set up for wireless yet. One of us is going to need to buy a wireless router so that I can get Net access -- assuming I move in on Monday as scheduled, I should have the wireless Net up and running by Tuesday. I still won't be around as much as I am during the uni year, since I'll be working most of the day but the weekends will definitely be my time for catching up on Net stuff!
Transport-wise, there's a bus that takes about ten minutes to get to Kagrannerplatz, and then I can take the U-Bahn from there to the UN. So possibly about twenty minutes to get to work, which starts at 8:30, meaning I should wake up around 7:30 in order to have time to shower, eat breakfast, get dressed, etc.
Parents are jointly giving me a lump sum of 2,500 Euros for my 21st birthday present (birthday is 10th July), and I'm supposed to pay rent and all other expenses over the summer from that. Rent for that place was originally 500 per month but I got her down to 350 instead, thankfully. Calculations for the next three months are under the cut.
Rent = 350 per month.
350 x 3 = 1,050
Monthly bus/tram ticket = 45, rounded up to 50, because you always round up when doing expenses, never down.
50 x 3 = 150
150 + 1,050 = 1,200
Lunch at the UN daily = 6 Euros, roughly. Five days a week, 4 weeks a month, 3 months, 12 weeks.
(6 x 5) = 30.
30 x 12 = 360, rounded up to four hundred.
1,200 + 400 = 1,600
Groceries will be needed for the weekends. Heat, water, electricity and Internet are covered under the 350 monthly rent. No idea how much groceries will cost. Wireless router should be about 50 Euros again.
1,600 + 50 = 1,650.
Then there are sundry miscellaneous expenses like the HP book 7, movies, soap, toothpaste, etc. No idea how to really budget for those. Austria's weirdly expensive. I'm cautiously rounding it up to 2K for the three months but I know that probably won't be enough. Still, if I'm careful, I should be okay. I hope.
...And here are some boys kissing as a reward for doing all that math!
Also, there's another protest-meme about writing sexy drabbles daily as a way of standing up for el-jay. Don't think that I'll be able to get steady enough access to actually do that until Tuesday, but I'm tempted to try. Flist, any thoughts?

Back up your journal if you've got the time. If I get booted from here, expect to see me hanging out at JournalFen or DeadJournal again. GreatestJournal = haaaaaaaaaaate because of all the ads everywhere, but journalfen is hard to get accounts for (unless you're a paid user who can get free accounts created and unfortunately, I'm still not allowed to buy stuff online otherwise I'd upgrade my account over there to a paid one) and deadjournal still works off the account code system, unfortunately.
Oh, and anyone with any interest at all in fandom or letting fandom have a safe space on el-jay should join Fandom Counts. You don't need to friend it, there are zero entries there, it's just a quick way of showing how many of the journals on el-jay are fandom related.
The deletions aren'ta specific targeting of fandom but fandom journals are getting caught in the targets and damnit, I'm annoyed that
pornish_pixies got deleted because I had a great Regulus/Remus fic in my memories that was posted there and now I can't remember the author or anything that would let me find it again, just that the writing style reminded me of Wilde. When I've got the Net time, I'll join it with all my multiple RP journals as well.

GJ is EVIL in my eyes. And maybe the apology'll make everything better. Maybe. *eyes it suspiciously*

GJ has ads... I never understood how this is a PROBLEM truth be told.

DJ has ads too, but only on top of the actual journal. GJ has ads everywhere, so much that it's a problem to navigate and look at profile pages. I keep all my el-jay accounts at either paid or basic just because I really hate the way that ads interrupt the flow of a page and on GJ, it's especially bad because they're right smack in the userinfo.
I hated the idea of el-jay getting ads as well, for what it's worth. I'm generally in favor of being able to read stuff without interruptions -- I mean, you don't get ads in books, only magazines, and I think journaling services should be more like books than magazines, textual instead of visual.

LJ has to pay the bills somehow, so I don't mind. Just they were fools about how they went and did it all.

Good move there, the wienerlinien website says that from the 1st June the prices are going up to 49.50euro :)
With regards to the unknown sundries, what I try to do is work backwards - rather than saying 'this is how much I want to spend' and hoping I'll have the money for it, I figure out 'after fixed expenses, this is how much I have left over for food/sundries', and then I can work out how much, on average, I can afford to spend each day.
So first work out whether or not you want to save any of it, or whether you want to spend the whole 2.1k. Let's assume you have no savings. Your leftover money is (2500-1650) = 850. Divide that by 90 days (is that approximately how long you'll be living alone?) and you have approximately 9euros per day. This will be skewed, of course, because you're more likely to spend money on the weekends. But you know that if you've spent a lot less than 9euros per day in the week, you can treat yourself on the weekend :)
You'll have enough money, but you will have to be careful.
But above all, MAKE SURE YOU EAT MORE THAN JUST LUNCH. I noticed that you only listed groceries for the weekend!! You better not be banking on skipping breakfast and dinner, m'dear, or you'll feel my wrath when I come home.

Damnit, and here I thought that I was doing well. *pouts* And would have left over money too!

2.5k, is what I meant. That mistake was in there because I originally thought you were only getting 2100, and I started panicking about you having no money for food. Then I realised that it was more, and all was good.

I'm very proud of you - when do you move in? Will I be able to visit? We need to have a housewarming!

*preens and can't wait to see you again* By the way, that icon of yours is AWESOME.

Helping me move in would be fantastic. ♥ I could show you around and if the weather's good, we could sun a little!

...Wanna do my math? You could be my accountant :P

--- and Savior should TOTALLY be your accountant *see's it as it's right above this comment*
And... I have a GJ... I'm not fond of GJ in the slightest. I should create another account though, because I'm lame like that. I also have a DJ... I wonder what the password is to that... I should find that...
I also USED to have a blurty and something else xD I am lame.
I will stick to LJ unless FLIST migrates completely or those that I contact with the most and other such things migrate blah blah, yada yada.
STUFF.
