A Tale of Two Fangirls.
Seb (
ryuutchi) came over last, last Sunday night after Intercon to hang out with me! Below the cut are photos of my room, which
ohsnikt has been asking for for a while, my Green Lantern ring that she gave me, the evil things we did to the fridge in the common room, my standard 3-times-a-day meal, a seal cookie originally bought for
pikachumaniac and assorted stuff.
And, of course, the obligatory pool shot.

First of all, that's the air mattress that Seb slept on. It's right next to the heater for extra warmth, has a white cotton mattress cover with a blue fleece over over that, and a nice thick quilt.

And that's my bed. Cornflower blue quilt cover = LOVE. It's also a shot of the fridge, and my boots, and the lower half of a Utena poster I got a swap meet.

Behold my bookshelf! All the stuff with similar covers? Manga. They get sorted onto a different shelf from the real books. Comics and manga and doujinshi are all stacked together, though.

This is Seb sitting at what passes for my desk. It has two laptops, one of which tends to get books and DVDs piled on it when not in use. You can also make out the statue of Athena that I got in Greece on the first shelf, near the wine glass that I store bills in.

On one sliding door of my cupboard, I've hung up a HUGE pirate flag that one of my cousins gave me for a birthday. You can vaguely see my Valentine's vase of roses on my ... whatever you call it. Not quite a vanity.

Here's a better shot of the roses, and the extremely cool jewelry-holder thing that's shaped like a dress form with a gorgeous pale blue satin gown on it.

This is the Green Lantern ring Seb gave me. Plastic spastic! Apparently there was a jar of them being given out for free at the DC table at a con she was at. I like how this photo came out, I might want to icon it somehow.

Got this for PM because of Yuki but by the time I got it home from the grocery store, it was already crushed. WOE.

While in the kitchen for dinner, we made the most mocking/silly comments we could from the supposedly inspirational magnet bits. Marvel at our snark.

Then we put our creative skills to work on this poster for the March 15th protest (more details on that here.) We did it while watching Boston Legal, which she had never seen before but appreciated in all its snarky glory.
In fact, she appreciated it so much that we did a Yuletide reading of a Brad-Alan fic! She voiced Alan, I voiced Brad and Denny, and it was fantastic.

We woke up around noon and we had breakfast/lunch. See my peanut butter on toast and chocolate milk? I often have that 3 times a day if I don't like what the dining hall is serving. She was smarter and ate something that involved meat, which still makes me wince. I don't think I'll ever get over the culture shock of Americans having meat for breakfast.
Ignore the cake. The cake is a lie. That's not something we usually get to enjoy.

While eating breakfast, I noticed a girl with 'Relena' sewn into her sweatshirt. We called her over, I asked her if her name was Relena, she said yes, I asked if she knew that there's a Gundam Wing character named Relena and she said that actually, she was named after that character.
My reaction? "..."
With a mental scream of No. Freakin'. Way. WHAT PARENTS WOULD DO THAT TO THEIR CHILD?!
She added that she likes Relena, except for the tendency to run after Heero and scream his name. I actually hate Relena, but Seb likes her (the character, obviously, not the actual girl in the photo) but I was glad that the girl liked her. Imagine being named after a character and when you grow up, you realize you don't actually like her.
But man, I feel old. I can't believe that GW is old enough to have a girl my age named after a char!

And to finish it off, here's a pool shot with the ever-lovely Seb demonstrating how the pillar gets in the way of taking certain shots.
I've got
witchwillow and
tes_aidan's vists to look forwards to as well, so expect more photos later!

Hopefully I'll be able to come over eventually. :x Or I can just kidnap you and bring you to California. :D
... Holy shit. At least the parents didn't name their daughter Aerith (although I think it's rather a nice name) or something. I heard of these folks naming their kid Sephiroth. o.O WAY TO ENCOURAGE A HEALTHY MENTAL STATE.

You here OR me in California works! Though I think it's probably safer to bring you here. ^_~ And less likely to weird out my parents. I never realized it before but it's like they just updated the sleepover rule when I moved out to college -- I'm allowed to have people over, I'm just not allowed to GO over.
...Sephiroth. WOW. Relena's bad enough in my eyes, but at least she LIKES Relena. Though now I'm imagining naming a kid Ryuuji. I wonder if the kid would grow hating clowns?

And if I my heart wasn't on Peter Laurentius, I would consider Ryuuji.
Well, actually, some kids have third names. Peter Laurentius Ryuuji.
...
Ryuuji Peter Laurentius.
Well, it doesn't quite ring, but it's got signifigance going for it. Yesssss.

:O the bookshelf looks really hard to reach. Although I guess you don't have to worry about earthquakes knocking it all over. ^^

Speaking of which, since you don't like dark chocolate, what sort do you like?
And I tend to have to stand on a chair for the bookshelf. Or on tiptoe. Either works!
no subject
:3 Aww, the picture of it was enough. Thanks! It was seriously very cute. :D
:O Well, hopefully nothing ever falls on you! I almost knocked over a library bookshelf just yesterday 'cause the book I wanted was on the top shelf and I was too short to reach it well. >>;;

I eat meat for breakfast only in taquitoes. Chorizo-ness is the bomb diggity fo' reelz.
(I sometimes am ashamed I actually type things like "the bomb diggity fo' reelz".)
no subject
...I don't know what a Chorizo is and am both amused and disturbed by your use of the phrase 'bomb diggity fo' reelz'. And what's a taquito?
no subject
A taquito is lit. a "little taco". According to wiki, people also call them "rolled tacos", but that sounds silly. Although they are just rolled tacos, or soft tacos. And I never realised all those names were the same thing until now as I type this. xDxDxDDD

And yeah, OMGWTF at the Relena thing. Seriously odd.
Also, I think meat for breakfast is actually illegal. Stop crime! Have toast!

The Relena thing nearly killed me of shock. The last thing I expected her to say was that she was NAMED after that Relena.
HAH! SCORE! You agreed with me -- but you live in NZ.

And Relena is totally an awesome character.

I like your icon. XD It made me giggle.

Gundam Wing was the first fandom I was in that had shipping wars. I learned to multiship there just to piss people off. (And I still can't stand 1x2.)

But I can post them to prove it :P
