A Tale of Two Fangirls.
Seb (
ryuutchi) came over last, last Sunday night after Intercon to hang out with me! Below the cut are photos of my room, which
ohsnikt has been asking for for a while, my Green Lantern ring that she gave me, the evil things we did to the fridge in the common room, my standard 3-times-a-day meal, a seal cookie originally bought for
pikachumaniac and assorted stuff.
And, of course, the obligatory pool shot.

First of all, that's the air mattress that Seb slept on. It's right next to the heater for extra warmth, has a white cotton mattress cover with a blue fleece over over that, and a nice thick quilt.

And that's my bed. Cornflower blue quilt cover = LOVE. It's also a shot of the fridge, and my boots, and the lower half of a Utena poster I got a swap meet.

Behold my bookshelf! All the stuff with similar covers? Manga. They get sorted onto a different shelf from the real books. Comics and manga and doujinshi are all stacked together, though.

This is Seb sitting at what passes for my desk. It has two laptops, one of which tends to get books and DVDs piled on it when not in use. You can also make out the statue of Athena that I got in Greece on the first shelf, near the wine glass that I store bills in.

On one sliding door of my cupboard, I've hung up a HUGE pirate flag that one of my cousins gave me for a birthday. You can vaguely see my Valentine's vase of roses on my ... whatever you call it. Not quite a vanity.

Here's a better shot of the roses, and the extremely cool jewelry-holder thing that's shaped like a dress form with a gorgeous pale blue satin gown on it.

This is the Green Lantern ring Seb gave me. Plastic spastic! Apparently there was a jar of them being given out for free at the DC table at a con she was at. I like how this photo came out, I might want to icon it somehow.

Got this for PM because of Yuki but by the time I got it home from the grocery store, it was already crushed. WOE.

While in the kitchen for dinner, we made the most mocking/silly comments we could from the supposedly inspirational magnet bits. Marvel at our snark.

Then we put our creative skills to work on this poster for the March 15th protest (more details on that here.) We did it while watching Boston Legal, which she had never seen before but appreciated in all its snarky glory.
In fact, she appreciated it so much that we did a Yuletide reading of a Brad-Alan fic! She voiced Alan, I voiced Brad and Denny, and it was fantastic.

We woke up around noon and we had breakfast/lunch. See my peanut butter on toast and chocolate milk? I often have that 3 times a day if I don't like what the dining hall is serving. She was smarter and ate something that involved meat, which still makes me wince. I don't think I'll ever get over the culture shock of Americans having meat for breakfast.
Ignore the cake. The cake is a lie. That's not something we usually get to enjoy.

While eating breakfast, I noticed a girl with 'Relena' sewn into her sweatshirt. We called her over, I asked her if her name was Relena, she said yes, I asked if she knew that there's a Gundam Wing character named Relena and she said that actually, she was named after that character.
My reaction? "..."
With a mental scream of No. Freakin'. Way. WHAT PARENTS WOULD DO THAT TO THEIR CHILD?!
She added that she likes Relena, except for the tendency to run after Heero and scream his name. I actually hate Relena, but Seb likes her (the character, obviously, not the actual girl in the photo) but I was glad that the girl liked her. Imagine being named after a character and when you grow up, you realize you don't actually like her.
But man, I feel old. I can't believe that GW is old enough to have a girl my age named after a char!

And to finish it off, here's a pool shot with the ever-lovely Seb demonstrating how the pillar gets in the way of taking certain shots.
I've got
witchwillow and
tes_aidan's vists to look forwards to as well, so expect more photos later!

I like your icon. XD It made me giggle.

Gundam Wing was the first fandom I was in that had shipping wars. I learned to multiship there just to piss people off. (And I still can't stand 1x2.)

But I can post them to prove it :P
