Burns.

Did some more research for DU today. Apparently the extent of damage that Seto's inflicted on his hand will result in third-degree that will most definitely scar and would probably require skin grafting to get anything fixed at all. It would be insanely expensive, and still might not help depending on how serious it is.

...And his hand is going to look disgusting.

Do not look at the following links if you're squeamish. *is personally squeamish about burn wounds*

Table showing differences between first, second and third degree burns.

Example One.

Example Two.

Example Three.

*squicked* On the bright side, Diapulse might be able to help. The relevant case is right at the bottom of the page and to get to it, you need to scroll past quite a lot of graphic injuries, inclduing a cross-section of a severed hand.

I'm leaving this post public in case anyone needs to have their RP char turn out a burn victim in the future.

Whereas with me, it's more like close eyes and demand that my roommate guides the mouse towards the Back button for me. At least, when I'm this sleep-deprived. Normally, it would be more like horrified fascation. You know, it's dreadfully tempting to link to one of those pictures when we do the actual RP.

Neither have I, but since I'm usually the one getting hurt, I'm normally too busy concentrating on not crying and acting like a wimp. But no, I wouldn't really think it was an overreaction, especially if he's been relatively sheltered and suddenly had to deal with something that horrific. You know you love me, really.

Mm. I'd suggest peeking through your fingers, then, and always opening in a new window, so you can kill it quickly if it's too much. Or learn the keyboard shortcuts so you don't have to look at the screen. To show people exactly how horrific it is, or just to give me nightmares? :P

Ouch. Most of the time I'm too stunned by suddenly being able to see my own muscle tissue or something to really cry. I've got a "Whoa, so that's what bone looks like when it's sticking through someone's skin!" reaction a lot of the time. I guess that's a good thing. Mm. I guess I'm just not liking the idea of crying wolf -- if I'm going to have Yami bolt for the sink/toilet, I want whoever's reading it to understand just how overwhelming seeing something like that could be, and not to think he's just being overdramatic or something. A lot of people (I've been poking for opinions, naturally) don't really know how bad a severe burn is, and most haven't smelled burning flesh before, so.... Heh, maybe the post should include visual aids.

Of course I do. I'm a bit amazed, though, that you haven't yet deleted your comment and fixed the code.

XD. That works, I suppose. But having a minor freak-out is amusing for her. To make sure they understand how severe it is. Nightmares, I can give you all on my own.

You go into shock? Eeek. I tend to be more like "NOT AGAIN OWOWOWOWOWOW!". And yeah, I see your point. Visual aids it is then, so as to safeguard Yami's reputation.

Dude, I haven't slept since Friday night. And I'm not as anal as Seto is about making mistakes, or hiding mistakes I've made - mostly because I never claim to be perfect. XD

...That's probably true.

Eh, not shock so much as an immediate reaction, a "fuck that hurt" sort of thing, and then...kind of distanced, you know? No panic and no crying but just sort of staring. And then getting medical attention, obviously. It's not quite surreal, but it's that sort of detachment. It registers that I'm in pain, then the cause and extent of the injury, then the bizarreness of because able to see bone or whatever. Poor Yami; his reputation shot....

SLEEP.
