*wondering if she's qualified*
Nov. 8th, 2005 07:17 pmJust applied to join
feminist_fandom, after
akiko suggested I join.
Why was I talking to this stranger in the first place? Well, Fandom Wank had something about a war over on
yaoi, and one of the people involved commented that "Uh, yes. I am a feminist. You ask like it's a bad thing.". That led to me making the following comment, which spawned a thread that got me a lot of compliments on the icon and link both. I fed them the slut link as well, and whee, more happy people.
My favorite response was definitely the sociology of gender teacher who said she's going to share the links with her class. Seriously, that made my night. XD
I also set my 'freedom' icon to default there. *nods* It needs more love. Because honestly, I think I love this icon a lot. Normally, if you had a clip like this of a girl dancing like that, then it would end up either sexually exploitative or just mocking her (and I'll admit, the original icon I made said "iPod love gone wrong" so not very enlightened of me), but that's not really fair. It's her body, and her choice what to do with it. I doubt very much anyone forced her into making the clip, it's there for public distribution, and in the end, I think that more people should like the way they look without any hang-ups about it, or about what it says about them to actually feel comfortable in their own skin.
And I still haven't finished my entry on Take Back the Night.
