Rules:
1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like.
2. Turn your music player on and turn it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabblet/ficlet related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterward! No matter how whacked out your drabble is. :)

Nov. 2nd, 2008 06:02 pm1) Sarah Palin talks to "Sarkozy". For those of you not in the know, that's the French President. Except it's not -- it's two guys from a Canadian radio show who get Palin to embarrass herself by gushing with fangirl-like enthusiasm over Sarkozy, probably in hopes of getting an endorsement or some overseas support. She hangs up when she realizes she's been tricked, unsurprisingly, but what worries me is that she didn't even realize the voice was wrong! I can recognize his voice and I'm definitely not in the running for Vice President of a major country.
2) Check Your Bias Here. A test from Harvard that identifies if you have an hidden bias where white/black people are concerned and the two American Presidential candidates. My results were a slight automatic preference for Black people over White people and a strong automatic preference for Barack Obama over John McCain.
Amusing, considering that I was taking this test thinking, "Yeah... Black versus White again. No South Asians involved." And slightly pouty over that. The black preference surprises me a lot more than Obama, since that one's obvious. Maybe it's because I live in Austria and I've yet to deal with racism from black people but have had plenty of it from Austrians, argh.
3) There's No One As Irish As Barack O'Bama! It's a song. Be warned, it's catchy. I still have it stuck in my head, days later!
4) I've gotten hooked on YGO: 5D's despite having refused to watch YGO GX. I blame the motorbikes. Ever since I heard that there are duels which take place while people are on MOTORBIKES, I've been itching to watch this series. And yes, this isn't a link, but there's more detail on my latest shameful fandom addiction ( under the cut )

Mar. 30th, 2008 04:21 pmIn Domino, there's a shade of blue known as Kaiba blue. It's popular for bedrooms and the trim on hats for schoolgirls. Soon, it turns into the blue of the uniform skirts and jackets.
They call it Kaiba blue even when nobody remembers who the Kaibas were; like Prussia, they are a thing of the past and history books.
Their name is remembered for the wrong reasons. There is no longer any awe attached to it.
Now that I've got THAT out of my system, sorry for everyone who's been wondering why I've been MIA lately. Willow aka
witchwillow and Zoe aka tes_aiden came over to crash with me and I was busy having SO MUCH FUN with them that I totally stayed offline!( More details. )

Link of the Day + Fandom-y Misc!

For those of you who don't know the details, that was actually 420chan, not 4Chan, which is apparently quite different but if you Google 4Chan, you'll see exactly how stupid it is. Also, the guy who's talking about his MySpace having been hacked? Was a member, tried to get them to target a chick that he didn't like, got mocked and voila, revenge! Sort of, anyway. XD
Apart from there, here's some fandom-type stuff.
First of all, International Blog Against Racism week starts next Monday on the 6th August. I'm probably going to be taking part, so watch out for me suddenly blogging a lot about what it means to be Sri Lankan in Austria, Sri Lankan in America and an expatriate Sri Lankan in Sri Lanka. It might result in me reopening the offer to make flag icons, as well.
Secondly, I watched the starting ep of the YGO Capsule Monsters thing today. Alexander is hot, Jou's a spaz (still) and the fact that this season will be lacking in Seto, Ryuuji and Mai mean that I'm totally unwilling to watch it except for the Alexander-the-Evil bits.
Thirdly, IalsomighthavewatchedalittleYGOGX. BY ACCIDENT, OKAY! But Aster Phoenix is kind of hot. Like a younger Pegasus.
Fourthly, there is no third point. Really. Ignore it.
Fifthly, I'm scheduled to give a half-hour presentation on my summer internship to the Nuclear Power Engineering Section on the 27th August and am just a wee bit nervous at that idea. I haven't even started making a slideshow yet! But I will be strong. And do well.
Sixthly, nobody on my flist said that they haven't read HP yet. Again, if you haven't read the book and are spoiler-phobic, comment! It's been long enough that I don't feel the need to keep spoilers behind cuts unless there actually is someone on my flist who is still behind the times.

May. 20th, 2007 07:25 pmI got an e-mail from the girl commissioned to draw me a Ryuuji/Terry pic at AnimeBoston (I also commissioned a Seto/Ryuuji one from a different artist) and she included a scan of the pic so far! And because I know there are other people who ship Ryuuji/Terry on my flist *coughs at ego_chan, pikachumaniac, 9tails, abrandnewboom and witchwillow, I'm sticking up the lineart here for all of you to see!

Ryuuji characterization thoughts.

So, here goes with my attempt to take a look at the world's favorite green-eyed gamer, canon versus fanon interpretations, RPability and some ideas from other people. (Please note, I'm talking about the manga version, not the anime. If you need an explanation of how they're different, read this post for a basic summary or the comments for a more detailed run-through.
Disclaimer: I don't own Ryuuji or YGO. I don't claim these views are 100% right and the only way to look at him. The following is just a listing of popular and rare fanon theories and my take on them, supported by scans from the manga and logical extrapolation.

I ask for it on behalf of otakugyrl who is a goldmine of information on Yami no Bakura but needs to be told more about the wonderfully sarcastic brat that is Ryuuji.
